The court ordered the administration of Krasnobakovsky District to compensate for the damage to the soil.

December 25, 2025, 10:48 Society The Arbitration Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region upheld the claims of the interregional office of Rosprirodnadzor for the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Republic of Mordovia against the administration of the Krasnobakovsky Municipal District. The case concerns compensation for damage caused to the soil as a result of violations of environmental legislation.

The basis for the lawsuit were the results of an inspection carried out under the federal project "General Cleanup." Inspectors from the agency examined an unauthorized landfill of solid household waste and recorded that the garbage extended beyond the designated plot. Part of the waste was placed on undemarcated land for which the local administration is responsible.

The inspection showed that the area of contaminated territory exceeds one thousand square meters. Based on the collected data, Rosprirodnadzor specialists calculated the amount of environmental damage — it amounted to more than 430,000 rubles.

The administration of the Krasnobakovsky District refused to compensate the damage voluntarily, whereupon the supervisory agency went to court. After reviewing the case materials, the court sided with Rosprirodnadzor and ordered the municipality to pay the full amount of the damage.

At the moment, the court decision has not yet come into force.

Earlier it was reported that the owner of a landfill in the Sergach District was fined 800,000 rubles.
