During the year, 324 foreign delegations visited the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      In 2025, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast hosted 324 foreign delegations from 145 countries. The total number of foreign guests was about 4,000 people. This is almost one and a half times more than in 2024. Olga Guseva, the region’s Minister of International and Interregional Relations, spoke about the results of international activities at a meeting of the Ministry’s Public Council.

      According to her, the year was a record in terms of the number of visits by foreign guests. Through the regional government alone, representatives from more than 140 countries visited the region. The minister noted that contacts with countries in Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa developed particularly actively. The region’s authorities, she said, intend to continue strengthening international ties and to seek new avenues for cooperation.

      In 2025, 28 agreements were signed with foreign regions and municipalities — almost three times more than in the previous year. Among the new partners are representatives from Argentina, Belarus, Brazil, Iran and China.

      Participants at the meeting also discussed key events that took place in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast over the year. These included the XII Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus (12+), the jubilee X International Conference "CIPR" (12+) and other events.

      Special attention was paid to the ministry’s educational projects. Thus, three graduates of the Y.E. Fokin School of the Young Diplomat and the Nizhny Novgorod Region Internationalists Club began working at the ministry this year.

      Guseva also spoke about the development of public diplomacy. According to her, this area remains one of the priorities. In 2025, more than 30 events were held in this sphere. The Center for Public Diplomacy, operating at Nizhny Novgorod State University named after N.I. Lobachevsky, continues to hold meetings, lectures and conferences. The minister emphasized that work in this area is being carried out systematically and consistently.

      It was previously reported that 900 foreign specialists had applied to relocate to Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
