Searches were carried out at the city administration and at the home of Deputy Mayor Sergey Egorov. This was reported to NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" by a source in law enforcement.
The official was detained today, December 2. He is suspected of taking a bribe (part 3 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
He will shortly be charged and a preventive measure will be chosen.
Earlier, the Nizhny Novgorod mayor's office said it is providing the necessary assistance to law enforcement.
By the way, Egorov became the first deputy to the mayor after Ilya Shtokman's dismissal in August 2025. Shtokman is being held in pre-trial detention in a case concerning a multimillion-ruble bribe. He was transferred to Moscow.
