Many people try to lose weight before the New Year to look perfect in their festive outfits. However, such a strict diet can be dangerous to health. Dietitian Inna Pichugina warns that severe dietary restrictions can lead to negative consequences for the body.

One of the main dangers of extreme weight loss is the risk of a breakdown. Prolonged fasting causes a deficiency of essential vitamins and minerals. As a result, the body begins to send hunger signals, which often leads to uncontrolled overeating at the holiday table.

To avoid such breakdowns, Inna Pichugina recommends sticking to balanced meals in the pre-New Year period. For healthy digestion, you can consume fermented dairy products rich in probiotics. The expert advises not to create an artificial calorie deficit and not to restrict yourself in food. Instead, it is better to plan the New Year’s menu and table setting in advance.

You can use small plates to control portions. It’s a psychological trick: the smaller the plate, the smaller the portion appears, and you will eat just as much as you need. It is also worth focusing on light salads, which are not only tasty but also low in calories.

Instead of frying foods, it is better to bake them. This helps preserve beneficial substances and reduce the calorie content of dishes. Making homemade sauces without mayonnaise is also an effective way to cut calories.

It is important to limit the consumption of smoked and excessively salty dishes, as they can raise blood pressure and cause swelling. Instead of sweet sodas and packaged juices, it is better to drink plain water. And don’t forget to be moderate with alcohol consumption, recommends the dietitian, 360.ru.
