The head of a kindergarten in Gorodets is accused of embezzling more than 1 million rubles.

      The Gorodets City Prosecutor's Office approved the indictment in the criminal case against the head of municipal kindergarten No. 24. The woman is accused of committing fraud and embezzling funds on a large scale using her official position.

      The materials of a prosecutorial inspection were the basis for opening the criminal case, the supervisory authority explained. It was established that from October 2019 to March 2025 the accused fictitiously registered a person as employed at the kindergarten who in fact did not perform any work duties. The salary credited in the name of the fictitious employee was appropriated by the head and spent by her for personal purposes. The total amount stolen in this episode exceeded 960,000 rubles.

      In addition, according to the investigation, from January 2020 to January 2024 the accused deliberately inflated the amounts of incentive payments to employees of the preschool institution. Subsequently, the employees who received these excess funds handed them over to the head. In this way, according to available data, more than 270,000 rubles were stolen.

      As part of the investigation, the prosecutor's office filed a civil claim for damages in the amount of more than 1.2 million rubles. As a measure to secure the claim, the accused's car was seized; its market value is about 1 million rubles.

      The criminal case was transferred to the Gorodets City Court for consideration on the merits.

      Earlier it was reported that a criminal case had been opened in Gorodets on the alleged torture of children in a kindergarten.
