The Nizhny Novgorod State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after A.S. Pushkin was named "Theatre of the Year" at the Onegin National Opera Awards. The company won three prestigious awards at once, becoming one of the ceremony's biggest winners.
"This is a resounding success and a well-deserved recognition of the work of the entire company," said the governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin, congratulating the artists.
The theatre's soloist Nadezhda Pavlova won in the "Best Female Role" category for her brilliant performance of three parts — Olympia, Giulietta and Antonia — in Jacques Offenbach's opera The Tales of Hoffmann.
Another award — in the "Ensemble" category — went to the performers of W. A. Mozart's opera Così fan tutte. Among the laureates were: Alexander Voronov, Nadezhda Pavlova, Yana Dyakova, Elena Sizova, Konstantin Suchkov and Boris Stepanov.
The Onegin National Opera Awards are presented to the country's best theatres, artists and productions. The Nizhny Novgorod theatre, according to the governor, successfully combines a rich operatic tradition with contemporary artistic solutions.
"Our theatre combines tradition with creative experiments, creating new approaches and meanings for true connoisseurs of operatic art!" Gleb Nikitin wrote on his Telegram channel.
Recall that a production by the Nizhny Novgorod Young Spectator's Theatre is nominated for the Golden Mask award.
