The Koromyslova Tower of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin will be restored in 2026.

      A tender has been announced in Nizhny Novgorod for restoration work on the Koromyslova Tower — one of the key structures of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin ensemble. This is reported on the government procurement portal.

      The customer is the Nizhny Novgorod State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve. The starting price of the contract will be 43.9 million rubles. The work is planned to be completed by 30 October 2026. Mandatory works include restoration of masonry, structures and decorative elements, as well as the installation of modern engineering systems that do not affect historically valuable elements.

      The scope of the project includes not only restoration of the tower but also adapting it for modern use.

      The contractor will be selected following an electronic tender among small and medium-sized businesses. Only organizations that hold the relevant licenses from the Russian Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) are eligible to participate.

      Applications will be accepted until 12 December, and the winner will be announced on 17 December.

      In addition, in spring the head of the museum branch "Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin," Stepan Petushin, reported that restoration works are planned in the coming years for other towers as well, including the Taynitskaya, Belaya and Porokhovaya towers. The latter is expected to become the subject of scientific research in 2026, and by 2027 it could house a new museum space.

      Moreover, this summer a circular pedestrian route (0+) along Kremlin Boulevard was opened after completion of slope reinforcement work on the section between the Koromyslova and Taynitskaya towers.
