A former Nizhny Novgorod police officer will be required to return 2.5 million rubles for the purchase of a BMW.

      In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the former head of the Lyskovo GIBDD department will be required to return more than 2.5 million rubles to the budget, the regional prosecutor’s office reports.

      In January 2023 the former police officer became the owner of a BMW X6 xDrive. To avoid declaring the car in his declaration, he registered it in the name of a close relative.

      However, the ex-head’s official earnings did not allow for such a purchase, which led the prosecutor’s office to have reasonable doubts about the legality of the source of funds. In this regard, a claim has been filed in court seeking recovery from the man of the full value of the vehicle as unjust enrichment.

      In addition, a criminal case has been opened against the ex-policeman. He is suspected of exceeding his official powers out of personal interest. The investigation is ongoing.

      Earlier it was reported that in Kstovo the head of the police migration department was arrested for exceeding his powers.

      It should also be recalled that a court ordered the Interior Ministry to dismiss a Nizhny Novgorod police officer for loss of trust.
