Reservists of "BARS-NN" repelled a drone attack in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      November 19, 2025 11:36 Society. The first shift of BARS-NN reservists began carrying out combat duty at one of the key enterprises in the Nizhny Novgorod region. After intensive training at the range, their main task is to ensure the protection of the facility, including thwarting possible attacks by hostile drones.

      The military commissar for the Kstovo and Dalnekonstantinovsky districts, Dmitry Morozov, noted that BARS-NN’s participation in guarding strategic enterprises plays an important role. He emphasized that the enemy is trying to affect civilian facilities and sow alarm among residents, and it is precisely to counter such threats that a mobilization reserve is being formed.

      According to him, recruitment into BARS-NN is ongoing, the number of people wishing to sign a contract is growing, and another group has already completed paperwork and will soon head to training. Morozov also noted that the first shift of reservists has confidently proven itself and has already achieved tangible results.

      During their duty, the reservists successfully repelled an actual drone attack. A fighter with the callsign “KMS” said that one night an alarm sounded and the group promptly went on alert. He said that although the drone could not be visually identified, the sound of its operation was clearly heard. The direction of travel was determined thanks to a tracer round, after which heavy-caliber weapons opened fire on the target. He stressed that the group’s coordinated actions made it possible to neutralize the threat and said he considered helping the enterprise his duty.

      A reservist with the callsign “Simba” said that the skills acquired during training at the range proved key in defending the facility. Already after the first instance of an enemy attack it became clear what responsibility rests on the reservists and how important the tasks carried out on duty are. The Nizhny Novgorod resident singled out night drills and shooting at moving targets as the most useful, noting that all attack attempts were repelled.

      The first group of territorial defenders will ensure the security of the strategic facility for approximately one and a half months.

      Recall that service in the BARS-NN reserve is carried out exclusively within the Nizhny Novgorod region and does not involve deployment to the zone of the special military operation. Recruitment is voluntary through municipal military commissariats by signing a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense. One feature of the service is the ability to combine one’s primary civilian job with military training and participation in drills. Reservists are provided with monetary compensation, uniforms and modern equipment. During training, they retain their workplace and salary; life and health insurance, medical support and meals are provided.
