The progress of resettling Nizhny Novgorod residents from dilapidated housing was discussed at the city council.

In Nizhny Novgorod, the implementation of a regional targeted program to relocate citizens from emergency housing declared as such between January 1, 2017 and January 1, 2022 is ongoing. This was reminded at a meeting of the City Duma commission on budgetary, financial and tax policy by Tatiana Geraskina, director of the Department of Construction and Capital Repair, NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" correspondent reports.
In total, more than 6,000 people are planned to be relocated from around 250 apartment buildings with a total area of 93.1 thousand square meters.
The program covers the period from 2024 to 2030 and is divided into four stages. The first stage is scheduled for 2024–2026. Within its framework, the relocation of residents from 899 residential units with an area of over 26 thousand square meters is planned. In the second stage (2026–2028), 545 units with an area of more than 19 thousand square meters will be resettled.
The third stage (2028–2029) provides for 874 units with a total area of over 26 thousand square meters. The fourth stage (2029–2030) will cover 674 units with an area of more than 20 thousand square meters. At the same time, volumes may be adjusted depending on the situation.
Financing for the first stage exceeds 4.4 billion rubles. Of this, 1.26 billion rubles is allocated by the Fund for the Development of Territories, 3 billion by the regional budget. For relocation in 2024, 1.45 billion rubles are provided, in 2025 — 2.57 billion, in 2026 — 378 million.
Geraskina reminded that within the first stage municipal contracts have been signed for the construction of three residential buildings with a total area of 26.3 thousand square meters comprising 559 apartments. The facilities are being built on 40 Years of Victory, Sadovaya and Zaitseva streets.
In addition, in 2024–2025 forty-nine? already acquired 39 residential units with a total area of 1.6 thousand square meters for 243 million rubles. Compensation has also been paid for 289 residential units in the amount of 1.1 billion rubles.
Additionally, in 2025 the Nizhny Novgorod budget provides 219 million rubles for the relocation of citizens from seven emergency houses, of which 186.4 million are regional funds. Using funds from developers and the implementation of agreements on the development of built-up areas, compensation totaling 225.3 million rubles has already been paid to the owners of 48 units. The remaining 180 million rubles will be paid as agreements with citizens are signed.
Earlier it was reported that a contractor had been selected to build a new residential building in the Molitovka microdistrict for those relocated from emergency housing.
