Employees of the Genetic Collections Center for Laboratory Animals at Nizhny Novgorod State University named after N.I. Lobachevsky began collecting cardboard tubes from toilet paper and paper towels. These seemingly useless items become cozy homes and interesting toys for laboratory mice.

As reported by Alexey Nikonov, editor-in-chief of "Stacionar-Press," on his Telegram channel, the tubes are being collected specifically for mouse families living at the university. First, the center staff sanitize the tubes and then place them in the animals' cages.

A collection point will open on November 17 in Building No. 7 at 23 Gagarin Avenue. It will be located on the basement level, with the entrance on the left side.

Anyone who wishes can help the mice by donating "building materials" for new homes.

It was previously reported that a baby bat found at "School 800" was taken to Moscow to spend the winter.
