"Torpedo" beat "Sochi" for the third time after a comeback

      November 12, 2025 22:30 Sport. Nizhny Novgorod’s "Torpedo" secured a come-from-behind victory over HC Sochi in a home match that ended 5–3.

      The visitors opened the scoring in the 11th minute and doubled their lead 1.5 minutes later. The hosts’ aggressive play and quick attacks produced no result. The first period belonged to Sochi — 0–2.

      The second period was goalless, but the Nizhny Novgorod side began creating far more chances. A few minutes before the intermission a Sochi player was assessed a five-minute penalty, and most of that power play carried over into the third period.

      Before the start of the final twenty minutes the visitors replaced their goalie: Ilya Samsonov, who had played confidently in the first two periods, was replaced by Maxim Tretyak. Alexei Isakov’s men took advantage of the Southerners’ decision. At the start of the third period, within a minute and a half Maxim Letunov cut the deficit. A minute later Shane Prince equalized. Another 90 seconds on, Vladislav Firstov put the team ahead. Then Bogdan Konyushkov extended the lead — 4–2. In total: 4 goals in 4 minutes.

      In the 53rd minute Sochi reduced the deficit to one goal. However, with 4.5 minutes left before the final siren Torpedo captain Alexei Kruchinin scored the fifth goal to make the final score — 5–3.

      For Kruchinin this was his 600th KHL game. He recorded a goal and two assists. Yegor Sokolov also had three assists.

      Torpedo secure their seventh consecutive victory, the club’s best run of the current season. With 38 points the Nizhny Novgorod side continue to share first place in the Western Conference standings with Lokomotiv.

      The next match (6+) for the Nizhny Novgorod side will be on November 16 against Avangard.
