      Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod goalkeeper Denis Kostin has become the leader of the KHL player rankings following weeks 7–9 of the 2025/2026 season.

      Recall that the 32-year-old goaltender returned to the Nizhny Novgorod club in the summer of 2025, signing a two-year one-way contract. He previously played for Torpedo in the 2018/2019 season. In the current season Kostin has played 16 games, four more than his teammate Ivan Kulbakov.

      By current statistical measures Kostin is showing a confident game: his goals-against average is 1.96 and his save percentage is 93.4%.

      The KHL ranking is formed based on comprehensive statistics. For goaltenders, parameters such as the average number of saves per game and the number of goals allowed are taken into account.

      In September the first ranking of the season was led by another Torpedo goaltender, Ivan Kulbakov.

      It was previously reported that the Nizhny Novgorod club took second place in the KHL team rankings by strength index.
