The Nizhny Novgorod region is experiencing an acute shortage of employees in some professional fields. Analysts at hh.ru reached this conclusion after studying the local labor market.
The labor shortage is particularly noticeable in retail. According to the platform, there are only 2.1 resumes per open vacancy, which is significantly below the normal level, which usually ranges from 4 to 7.9. In other words, finding a suitable employee in retail is currently difficult.
In November, employers in the region posted almost 2,800 vacancies in this sector. The average salary offered to applicants is 55,000 rubles. At the same time, candidates themselves expect roughly the same amount — 54,800 rubles. This indicates companies’ willingness to take candidates’ wishes into account; however, even when salary expectations align, finding employees remains difficult.
A similar situation exists in medicine and pharmaceuticals. Here there are about 2.8 resumes per vacancy, which also indicates a staff shortage. In November employers posted around 1,400 vacancies, and the salary level, both from applicants and companies, was recorded at 70,000 rubles.
Nevertheless, despite agreement on pay levels, filling vacancies is hampered by the limited number of candidates and high competition for qualified specialists.
It was previously reported that the average salary of healthcare workers in the Nizhny Novgorod region increased by 44% over four years.
