The Nizhny Novgorod mayor's office has made changes to the architectural and artistic concept of the Verkhnevolzhskaya Embankment. The corresponding resolution was published on the administration's website.
The document amends the previously approved concept of October 18, 2021. It concerns the section of the embankment from the Chkalov Staircase to Sennaya Square. The new version of the annex was developed taking into account the current urban planning standards and the rules for the placement of informational structures approved in March 2023.
The purpose of the adjustments is to create a harmonious and coherent urban environment, as well as to regulate the placement of signs and non-stationary retail outlets.

The concept defines permissible types of temporary retail outlets — carts, kiosks, vending machines and mobile stalls. All of them must be made of lightweight materials, have no foundation and not exceed three meters in height. Such objects may be placed only within pedestrian zones and on surfaces with a solid base.
Special attention is paid to appearance — structures must correspond to the street’s architectural style and not disrupt compositional axes.
The external appearance of the objects must be coordinated with the approved catalog of sketches or developed individually and approved in the prescribed manner.
As for informational structures, the concept sets requirements for their placement, color scheme, fonts and lighting methods. All elements must be visually restrained, correspond to the architecture of the buildings and not create visual noise. The use of bright or decorative fonts, as well as duplication of information on facades, is prohibited.
Options for decorative design of construction fences during façade works are also provided. These include images of the city panorama, visualizations of the renovated façades and stylized graphic solutions with slogans like "Everything will be transformed here" or "We’ll fix everything soon."
It was previously reported that a design code had been approved for Bolshaya Pokrovskaya, Fedorovsky Embankment, Zvezdinka Street and the "Gordeevsky Pyatachok."
