In Nizhny Novgorod and Dzerzhinsk, 206 new public Wi‑Fi hotspots have become operational. Some of them are located on the territory of the recently annexed Kstovo District of Nizhny Novgorod.

Free internet is now available in city polyclinics, the A. Peshkov Central District Children's Library, the Dzerzhinsk bus station, the zoo and other facilities.

Of the total number of new hotspots, 134 were created by JSC "Er‑Telecom", 63 by PJSC "Rostelecom", and a further 9 by LLC "Svyazstroyservice".

All active access points in the Nizhny Novgorod Region can be seen on the interactive public Wi‑Fi map posted on the "Resident Map of the Nizhny Novgorod Region" portal. The information on it is constantly updated. At the moment the map shows about two thousand locations where residents of the region can connect to free internet.

You can also access the map via the website of the Nizhny Novgorod Region government. A separate "Wi‑Fi Map" section is provided in the portal menu.

Users of the mobile app "Resident Map of the Nizhny Novgorod Region" can use the map even without an internet connection. To use the offline mode, you need to install the app (it is available in RuStore for Android devices and iPhone), select the "Wi‑Fi Map" item and download the map of the required settlement. Options are available both for the entire region and for individual cities — Nizhny Novgorod, Dzerzhinsk and Arzamas. Registration in the app is not required to view the map.

If the address of a hotspot is listed incorrectly or internet is absent in the selected zone, users can report this via the "Resident Map" portal or by calling the hotline at 122 (after connection, press 5). Operators accept requests Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 20:00, and on Saturdays from 8:00 to 13:30. Information on regional resources is updated as new access points appear.

Business representatives can also join the initiative by declaring their readiness to provide free Wi‑Fi in their establishments. A special feedback form is posted on the "Resident Map of the Nizhny Novgorod Region" portal.

In September, public Wi‑Fi points appeared in the maternity hospitals of Nizhny Novgorod and Dzerzhinsk. In particular, the regional perinatal center of City Clinical Hospital No. 40 in the Avtozavodsky District was equipped with 17 access points, Maternity Hospital No. 4 in Nizhny Novgorod — 6, the maternity ward of the Kstovo Central District Hospital — 4. The Dzerzhinsk Perinatal Center received 14 Wi‑Fi points.

It was previously reported that millions of rubles would be allocated for 211 new Wi‑Fi hotspots in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

It also emerged that the Nizhny Novgorod fare payment system may be added to the "white list".
