October 24, 2025, 08:00 Society The rural settlement of Sosnovka, which is part of the town of Uren, is proposed to be abolished. The corresponding bill has been submitted to the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

As noted in the explanatory note, the reason for the liquidation of Sosnovka was the complete absence of registered population and real estate in it. In the summer the settlement was surveyed by a commission created by a decision of the Council of Deputies of the Uren Municipal District. Based on its work, it concluded that it had completely lost the characteristics of an inhabited locality and that there were no prospects for its development.

If adopted, the law will come into force on January 1, 2026. That date was chosen taking into account Rosstat’s recommendations, according to which such changes should be made no later than the middle of the third quarter of the year preceding the new financial year.

Earlier, the editorial office of NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" examined the register of administrative-territorial formations, urban and rural localities of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and counted 15 Sosnovkas. In addition, the name Sosnovskoye appears three times in the document and Sosnovy Bor appears twice. You can read in our article why there are so many villages with the same name in the region and what difficulties their residents face.

It was also reported that two villages in the Nizhny Novgorod region may be assigned numbers due to identical names.
