A resident of the Nizhny Novgorod region received a long sentence for participating in an extremist organization and a series of crimes. This was reported by the regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
Investigators established that from July 2023 to May 2024 the man, while in the Buturlinsky municipal district, joined an extremist organization. After his arrest he was placed in remand prison No. 2 (SIZO-2), where he continued to take part in the activities of the banned "AUE" movement*, which was declared extremist by a decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation in 2020.
In the detention center he actively promoted the ideology of this subculture.
Also, in August 2023 the man, using violence, took a mobile phone from a minor and then, by threatening him, demanded a large sum of money. A year later, in August 2024, he stole a car, and in May 2025 he inflicted bodily injuries on a police officer.
The court found the man guilty of participating in an extremist organization, robbery, extortion, vehicle theft and using violence against a police officer. He was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment in a maximum-security penal colony.
It was previously reported that a resident of Sarov was fined 400,000 rubles for financing an extremist organization.
*The movement has been recognized as extremist and is banned in the Russian Federation.
