Olga Akimova was elected general director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      On 23 October in Nizhny Novgorod an extraordinary Conference of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Nizhny Novgorod Region was held. Delegates unanimously supported the decision to elect Olga Akimova to the position of General Director of the Chamber.

      Akimova’s candidacy was presented by the Council of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Nizhny Novgorod Region on 27 August 2025. During the Conference the new head presented a strategic Development Program for the Chamber’s activities through 2030. The document defines key directions for strengthening the Chamber’s role as a major institution supporting entrepreneurship and as the principal platform for constructive interaction between business and government authorities.

      Among the program’s priorities are holding regular discussion and expert forums with government representatives, active participation in the drafting of legislative initiatives, development of arbitration and mediation institutions, and expanding cooperation in industrial cooperation and foreign economic activity.

      Ilya Zubkov, Vice-President and Board Member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia, emphasized that the Nizhny Novgorod Chamber rightly ranks among the leading regional chambers in the CCI system. He noted that by volume of services provided it consistently ranks among the top three regional chambers, and its membership base has already exceeded one thousand organizations. According to Zubkov, these figures clearly demonstrate the high authority and demand for the Nizhny Novgorod Chamber in the region’s business community.

      He also expressed full support for the strategic goals set by the new leadership, noting that particular attention will be paid to assisting businesses in entering foreign markets, developing industrial potential, and protecting entrepreneurs’ interests. The Vice-President stressed that the foundation of this work remains building a constructive dialogue between business and the authorities, as well as further improving the quality and variety of services provided to entrepreneurs.
