Putin again praised the Nizhny Novgorod region: here's why

      President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin highly praised the experience of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast in the field of demographic policy while speaking at the first meeting of the Council for the Implementation of State Demographic and Family Policy.

      He cited Nizhny Novgorod Oblast as an example of active regional policy in this area.

      "This work envisages a number of substantial support measures. First of all, the regional family capital, which provides monthly payments for three years after the birth of a child: the first, second, third and subsequent children. Moreover, support is provided to all families, regardless of their income level, simply by the fact of the child's birth," the head of state stressed.

      Recall that during his visit to Nizhny Novgorod Oblast in August 2025 the president met with Governor Gleb Nikitin. The latter described in detail to the president the implementation of comprehensive programs aimed at achieving the goals of the national projects "A Long and Active Life" and "Family." Following the meeting, Putin proposed scaling up Nizhny Novgorod Oblast's measures to support demographics.

      It was also reported that more than 5,000 Nizhny Novgorod families have already applied for regional maternity capital.
