They want to conduct an experiment to ban vapes in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      An experiment to restrict the sale of vapes and other electronic smoking devices is planned in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This follows from a draft federal law that the regional Legislative Assembly plans to submit to the State Duma.

      If State Duma deputies approve the initiative, the experiment will start on March 1, 2026, and will run until the end of 2030.

      "In order to implement measures to reduce the scale of consumption of tobacco and nicotine-containing products by the population, to conduct an experiment to limit on the territories of subjects of the Russian Federation the retail sale of electronic nicotine delivery systems, devices for heating tobacco, nicotine-containing and nicotine-free liquids, and tobacco-free heating mixtures," the document states.

      At the same time, regions participating in the experiment will be allowed to impose additional restrictions, up to a complete ban on the sale of all such products.

      Recall that Governor Gleb Nikitin proposed introducing a ban on the sale of vapes in the region. This proposal was also supported by the head of state, Vladimir Putin, during a working trip to Sarov.

      The Nizhny Novgorod region will become the first region in the country where such a ban will take effect as part of a pilot project.
