Employees of the Privolzhsk Customs Administration handed over 40 tons of humanitarian cargo for residents of the Donetsk People’s Republic via the People’s Front. The shipment included warm items — women's jackets, children's snowsuits, down jackets and other winter clothing. All collected items will be delivered to the Russian Orthodox Church assistance center at the Church of St. Princess Olga in Donetsk, from where the items will be distributed directly to needy families. In total, more than 63,000 items of clothing have been handed over to the republic's population.
The cargo was assembled from goods previously seized by mobile units of the Privolzhsk Customs Administration for violations of customs legislation. After a court ruling, the property was transferred to federal ownership. Following an assessment of its condition and the completion of all legal procedures, it was decided to send the items for charitable purposes.
Mikhail Zhiryaev, Deputy Head of the Privolzhsk Customs Administration, reported that mobile unit officers seized 40 tons of women's and children's clothing illegally brought into Russian territory. He noted that this cargo was handed over to DPR residents through the People’s Front as humanitarian aid. According to Zhiryaev, the initiative is aimed at supporting and improving the living conditions of people in difficult circumstances. He emphasized that similar actions are not being carried out for the first time and will be continued.
The Nizhny Novgorod branch of the People’s Front thanked all organizations that took part in preparing and delivering the cargo.
People’s Front representative in the region Darya Kovanova noted that several organizations joined the effort at once — the Privolzhsk Customs Administration and the Privolzhsk Operational Customs, the Territorial Office of Rosimushchestvo for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, ANO "Moshch Donbassa" and the People’s Front. According to her, it is especially important that the items were sent in time — ahead of the cold season — which will allow timely assistance to the residents of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
Earlier it was reported that Nizhny Novgorod volunteers sent about a ton of humanitarian aid to the Kursk Region.
