On October 22, a ceremonial awarding of the regional honorary badge "For Serving the People" took place at the Corporate University of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Forty-two residents of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, who have made a significant contribution to the development of the volunteer movement and are actively engaged in public activities, were honored with this high award. The honorary badges were presented by Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Andrey Gneushev.

      The regional honorary badge "For Serving the People" was established in January 2023 at the initiative of Governor Gleb Nikitin and at the suggestion of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the All-Russian public movement "Volunteers of Victory." The award is presented to citizens for a significant contribution to the development of volunteerism.

      "It is a great honor for me to present awards today to Nizhny Novgorod residents for serving our country, for serving the people. From the bottom of my heart I thank you for your kind and selfless deeds, for your dedication to the common cause! Our country is strong because of you — people who help one another in difficult situations. This is a quality that unites our people, it is our roots, our traditions. It is with this spirit — shoulder to shoulder — that we will prevail! Thank you very much and a deep bow for your work!" said Andrey Gneushev.

      Also among the honored guests was Acting Minister of Personnel Policy Elena Amosova.

      "Serving people is not just a job; it is a mission and a noble calling based on mercy, compassion, humanity, love for people, for one's homeland both great and small. It possesses a huge creative power capable of changing the world for the better. After all, the very transformation of the country, its confident movement forward begin with a person's sincere desire to do good, to help their neighbor here and now. These are what define our image, our past, present and future. The honorary badge 'For Serving the People' is the state's recognition of the merits of those who have distinguished themselves in volunteerism, those who carry out active public activities and help people. They are the true heroes of our time," emphasized Elena Amosova.

      The recipients of the honorary badge are residents of the region who regularly assist in nursing homes, shelters, hospices and medical institutions, orphanages, and who also contribute to the implementation of socially significant projects and events.

      "We are sincerely grateful to the regional leadership for establishing the honorary badge 'For Serving the People.' I am sure that it will become a powerful incentive for the development of the volunteer movement in the region. It shows young people that helping others is honorable and meaningful. And for those who have long been involved in volunteering, it is a well-deserved recognition of their many years of work. We are glad that among the awardees are two employees of our Volunteer Center," shared Maria Samodelkina, General Director of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Volunteer Center.
