The children's health and educational center "Lesnoy" in the Chkalovsky District of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast became the winner of the All-Russian Forum of Organizers of Children's Recreation and Health "Big Meanings 2025". The institution took first place in the category "Seasonal organizations for children's recreation and wellness". This was reported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
During a plenary discussion at the forum, Russia's Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov named the regions that most successfully conducted the 2025 summer health campaign. Nizhny Novgorod Oblast was included among the eight leaders and received a winner's diploma in the corresponding review-competition. According to the minister, a unified program for educational work was adopted this year; its full implementation will take time, but monitoring already shows that camp programs comply with federal requirements. The document was based on the practices of leading children's centers — "Artek", "Orlyonok", "Smena", "Okean" — as well as the best developments of other Russian camps.
The regional ministry recalled that during the summer campaign more than 1,100 camps operated in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, where about 144,000 children were able to rest.
Mikhail Puchkov, Minister of Education and Science of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, noted that the region for the third year in a row confirms its leadership in organizing children's recreation. He emphasized that the experience of leading institutions becomes a benchmark for others, and the awards of the All-Russian Forum confirm the correctness of the chosen course. In his words, upgrading facilities and introducing modern forms of leisure improve the quality of summer recreation for every child.
The ministry also clarified that the All-Russian competition-review of children's camps was held in three stages. First, regional selections were held, based on which the strongest contenders were determined in the subjects. Then the camps' applications were examined at the federal level. The final stage included an assessment of educational organizations' websites, institutions' work on the theme of the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, results of educational activities, infrastructure development, and achievements of management teams.
Elena Zubova, director of the "Lesnoy" center, emphasized that participating in the competition helps to soberly assess chosen directions, unite the team, identify strengths and growth areas, and on this basis build a strategy for further development. She added that recognition of the work of people who have devoted a significant part of their lives to Lesnoy is especially valuable.
In addition to "Lesnoy", two other Nizhny Novgorod organizations for children's recreation and health were recognized at the forum. The children's health center "Druzhba" (Gorodetsky District) reached the final in the category "Best inclusive organization of children's recreation and wellness". The children's sanatorium-health educational center "Lazurny" of the Vyksa Urban District became one of the finalists in the review-competition of year-round camps.
The development of the system of children's health recreation remains one of the priorities of the new national project "Youth and Children", implemented on the instructions of President of Russia Vladimir Putin and consolidating tasks previously provided for by the national projects "Education" and "Science and Universities". The new national project includes nine federal projects and programs: "Russia — Land of Opportunities", "We Are Together", "Russia in the World", "All the Best for Children", "Leading Schools", "Teachers and Mentors", "Creation of a Network of Modern Campuses", "Universities for a Generation of Leaders", and "Professionalitet".
