Pari Nizhny Novgorod head coach Aleksei Shpilevsky publicly apologized to the team's fans after elimination from the Russian Cup. On the evening of 22 October the Nizhny Novgorod side suffered a heavy defeat to Rostov, losing 1-4.
"I want to apologize to the fans for the awful first half. It’s my fault, because the wrong structure and the wrong personnel were chosen. You simply can’t act so ineptly. I’m ashamed that the team played the first half with such an attitude, and for that arrogance Rostov completely punished us," the coach said at the post-match press conference.
In the second half, according to the coach, the situation improved. "We changed the structure, made substitutions, got into the game well, but an individual mistake again made the task of coming back more difficult," he explained.
Shpilevsky described the first half as the worst during his time at the club.
"It was my mistake to pick the wrong players for the first half. On the other hand, I chose from those available," Shpilevsky summed up.
Recall that the specialist took charge of the team this summer, replacing Viktor Gancharenko, with whom the club were relegated from the RPL after the playoff matches. However, the Russian Football Union (RFS) kept Pari NN in the league instead of Moscow-region Khimki, who lost their license.
Earlier the coach’s dismissal had already been predicted, as had that of sporting director Alexander Udaltsov, but the club denied those rumors. Incidentally, in September CEO David Melik-Guseinov left the post, information about whose departure had also previously been denied. Vitaly Karasev now holds this position.
