Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin instructed that a report be presented on a criminal case opened in connection with violations of living conditions in an apartment building on General Ivliev Street in Nizhny Novgorod. This was reported by the department’s information center.

The trigger was a message posted in the comments to Bastrykin’s online reception on VKontakte. Residents complained about the unsatisfactory condition of the building, which was built in 1972. Worn-out utilities regularly break down, and due to frequent pipe bursts the building’s basement is repeatedly flooded.

It is noted that despite numerous appeals to various authorities, the situation remained unchanged for a long time. As a result, a criminal case was opened by the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

Bastrykin instructed the head of the regional Investigative Committee, Ayrat Akhmetshin, to report on the progress and results of the investigation.

Earlier, the head of the Investigative Committee took an interest in the dilapidated houses on Gvozdilnaya Street and Gagarin Avenue, as well as the critical condition of about 20 apartment buildings located in the area of Beketov, Shorin and Pushkin streets.
