Volga did not confirm the authenticity of the video showing a Geely Atlas under its brand.

      22 October 2025 21:42 Economy The company "Passenger Car Production", acting as the author of the new Volga project, did not confirm the authenticity of a video showing the Chinese crossover Geely Atlas with Volga badges. This was reported by Autonews.ru, citing the JSC press service.

      In the morning of 22 October a source said that future Volga cars would be built on the basis of Geely models. To which the author of the Volga revival project replied: "We do not confirm the authenticity of the video, we do not comment on the situation."

      At the same time, in September the media reported that the new Volga cars are indeed being created based on Chinese Geely models.

      The revived Volga brand was first presented in spring 2024. The cars shown then externally resembled adapted versions of Changan models not available in Russia at that time. The new models were shown to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, who called for localization of the production of certain components.

      "Where is your steering wheel made? Chinese? You'd like the steering wheel to be Russian. That's not so difficult," the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation said at the time.

      Since then nothing has been reported about further development of the Volga lineup or the start of car assembly. First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov only stated that production of cars under the Volga brand could start in spring 2026, without disclosing project details.
