The implementation of lean technologies increased the output of the Nizhny Novgorod plant.

      October 21, 2025 16:31 Economy Experts from the Regional Competence Center (RCC), together with employees of the branch of Nizhny Novgorod Electrotechnical Plant LLC, summed up the results of implementing the tools of the federal project "Labor Productivity" of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy." The enterprise specializes in the production of equipment for the energy sector. The pilot direction chosen was the production process of KSO "Novation" cabinets — chambers that house equipment for electricity distribution. The production line accounts for more than 60% of the company's revenue. According to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Maxim Cherkasov, over six months RCC experts together with company employees analyzed the work of the pilot area and identified 22 "bottlenecks," including downtime, frequent changes in design documentation, as well as non-ergonomic workplaces and inefficient organization of material and tool retrieval. "RCC specialists together with the company's project team developed a set of measures to optimize the pilot flow. An inventory of materials was also conducted in the workshop to identify unnecessary stocks. Some products were moved to the warehouse, which made material searches 85 percent faster. As a result of the implemented changes, output on the pilot flow increased more than twofold," Maxim Cherkasov said. RCC specialists also trained 17 company employees in lean technologies and prepared three internal trainers who will later be able to independently train their colleagues. In the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the tools of the federal project "Labor Productivity" of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy" are being implemented by five manufacturers of electrotechnical products. In total, 300 regional companies are participants in the federal project.
