Lobachevsky Nizhny Novgorod State University (NNSU), Dobrolyubov Nizhny Novgorod State Linguistic University (NGLU) and the company Just Logistics signed an agreement on the sidelines of the VI International Forum on Foreign Economic Activity (FEA) in Nizhny Novgorod to create a consortium for advanced training and retraining of specialists in the field of FEA. The forum was organized with the participation of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

The development of international trade is being carried out in accordance with the goals and objectives of the national project “International Cooperation and Export,” initiated by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

The consortium for training personnel for FEA is a partnership of educational and business organizations of the Nizhny Novgorod Region aimed at improving the quality of specialist training and integrating education with the labor market.

“Today high demands are placed on specialists in the field of FEA: they must be versatile — understand the subtleties of foreign trade contracts, be familiar with standard terms of international trade, distinguish between documentary collection and letters of credit, and be experts in customs matters. Therefore, new forms of interaction with employers are needed, practice-oriented projects, cross-functional teams with Russian and foreign students, mentorship and the involvement of FEA support institutions. All this makes it possible to identify the real needs of business and train specialists capable of solving specific tasks of bringing goods to market. Special attention should be paid to customs training of students taking into account the staffing needs of regional authorities, otherwise the FEA infrastructure will stall,” noted the founder of the FEA Forum, Lyudmila Teselkina.

The consortium aims to create a modern education system that will meet the requirements of leading employers and current international business trends. Combining the efforts of universities and businesses will make it possible to form an effective model of continuous learning that supports national development goals, the priorities of the Nizhny Novgorod Region’s foreign economic relations, and the formation of a personnel reserve of FEA specialists.

The main tasks of the consortium are creating a career guidance system “school — university — enterprise” and promoting professions in the field of international cooperation and foreign trade. The consortium will also engage in the development and implementation of higher, secondary and continuing education programs focused on key competencies in FEA, including marketing, sales, compliance, logistics and international payments.

An important area of work will be forming a personnel reserve of instructors and ensuring their continuous professional development with the support of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Development Corporation, the Russian Export Center and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In addition, the consortium plans to attract practitioners from the real sector of the economy to give lectures, master classes and expert reviews of educational programs, and will also organize olympiads, competitions and export-oriented projects for talented youth.

“It is very symbolic that the agreement was signed at the FEA Forum. This shows that the event is not for show, but for real mutually beneficial ties. And, of course, the document reflects the inseparable link between business and education. The consortium for training specialists is an investment in the future, in new generations of people who will have to shape the region’s international business reputation,” emphasized the chairman of the FEA Forum organizing committee, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Dmitry Starostin.

The agreement is open to new partners who share its goals.
