Mayor Yury Shalabaev wrote on his Telegram channel that the administration is currently preparing a set of measures to restrict the passage of heavy trucks into the historic part of the city.

      According to him, special signs prohibiting truck traffic will be installed at the entrances to the historic center and on major streets frequently used by transit vehicles.

      In addition, a mechanism for issuing special permits to enter the restricted zone is being discussed.

      "This will help maintain a balance between business interests and residents' comfort, reduce the burden on the roads, and make the center of Nizhny Novgorod safer and more environmentally friendly," the head of the city wrote.

      Earlier it was reported that cameras on Nizhny Novgorod's roads recorded nearly 2 million violations since the beginning of the year.
