The leader of the A Just Russia party, Sergey Mironov, has proposed a new bill to the State Duma. According to the initiative, the minimum pension level would be calculated based on the minimum wage (MROT), rather than the pensioner’s subsistence minimum. This was reported by 360.ru.

In an explanatory note to the bill, Mironov noted that the current system of calculating pensions, based on the subsistence minimum, often leads to pensioners receiving payments that are significantly lower than the MROT. This, in his view, is unfair and contributes to increased social inequality.

Earlier, the State Duma proposed reviewing the approach to pension calculation in order to more fairly account for citizens’ labor contributions. In addition, the idea of introducing an annual 13th pension in Russia was voiced.

Recall that economically active residents of Nizhny Novgorod named a decent pension amount as 47,900 rubles per month.
