A Sarov resident was fined for financing an extremist organization.

      In the Nizhny Novgorod Region a man has been convicted after being found guilty of financing extremist activities. This was reported by the regional directorate of the Russian FSB.

      The investigation established that the 33-year-old resident of the closed administrative-territorial formation (ZATO) Sarov transferred money to overseas accounts of an organization banned on the territory of the Russian Federation.

      The criminal case was opened and investigated by the Investigative Division of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region on signs of an offense provided for in part 1 of Article 282.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (financing of extremist activities).

      The Sarov City Court imposed a penalty on the defendant in the form of a fine of 400,000 rubles.

      The sentence has not yet entered into legal force.
