A high-tech rehabilitation complex for people in need of prosthetic care has been established in the region with government support.

      In Nizhny Novgorod, a high-tech rehabilitation complex for participants in the special military operation (SMO) and people in need of prosthetics has been established at the Center for Prosthetics and Orthopedics with state support.

      The opening of such a complex is one of the stages in implementing the directive of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to create a nationwide network of high-tech prosthetic and rehabilitation centers for participants in the SMO and people with disabilities.

      “Supporting projects aimed at developing social infrastructure is of particular importance for the region because they directly affect people’s quality of life. The total investment in creating the rehabilitation complex amounted to 20.5 million rubles. Of this, the organization received more than 19 million rubles in the form of concessional loans from GosMFO and the Regional Industry Development Fund. Thanks to state support, the center was able to acquire modern diagnostic and rehabilitation equipment that meets current standards. A significant portion of the funds was directed to modernizing the production of technical rehabilitation aids and purchasing materials. The upgrade allowed production times for prostheses to be reduced by more than 30 percent,” said Maxim Cherkasov, Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.

      The opening of the center was attended by Olga Votintseva, Deputy Head of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the “Defenders of the Fatherland” Foundation for medical support. The Nizhny Novgorod branch of the foundation has actively cooperated with the prosthetics enterprise on the prosthetic treatment of SMO veterans since the first days of its work in the region.

      “I want to express my sincere gratitude to the management and staff of the enterprise for their initiative, professionalism and humane involvement! It is precisely such partnerships—based on trust, mutual understanding and shared values: care for people, patriotism and social responsibility—that allow us to achieve significant results together. I am confident that the new branch will become not just a medical institution, but a true support center in the process of adapting to civilian life,” Olga Votintseva shared.

      Also present at the opening of the complex were Tatyana Druzhinina, head of the coordination center for supporting servicemen, mobilized personnel and their families at the House of National Unity and deputy of the Nizhny Novgorod City Duma; Ekaterina Zimina, Head of the Social Rehabilitation Department of the Ministry of Social Policy of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast; as well as representatives of the Social Fund of Russia, the Main Bureau of Medical and Social Expertise, and public organizations.

      As part of the event, guests were given a tour of all the premises of the complex, demonstrating its capabilities.

      “Patients will be able to gain not only physical strength here, but also self-confidence, learn new skills and become full members of society. The center will be an important part of a comprehensive system of assistance for SMO participants. Now in the region we will be able to more effectively address issues related to technical rehabilitation aids, prosthetics and other forms of support for servicemen,” noted Tatyana Druzhinina.

      The new facility is equipped with modern equipment for comprehensive and accelerated rehabilitation of patients after amputation. A full environment for recovery has been created here, including halls for exercise therapy and mechanotherapy, an adaptive apartment with a kitchen for practicing daily living skills, and on the adjacent territory—a path with various surface types and a workout area.

      At the heart of the complex’s work are advanced technological solutions: stabilometry platforms and treadmills with biofeedback, suspension systems for gait training, specialized simulators and equipment for studying biomechanics. Diagnostics and treatment are complemented by a modern electromyograph and a psychological support office, which ensures not only physical but also psychological recovery of patients. All premises and the adjacent territory are equipped with a barrier-free environment, including adapted sanitary facilities, threshold-free doorways and a well-planned ramp system.

      “This complex is not just a building with new equipment. It is a space of opportunities where those who defended our Motherland and those who by fate faced serious trials will be returned to a full life. I want to express my gratitude to the regional government and the relevant ministries for their help in implementing the project. This is our joint contribution to the future of many people,” said Dmitry Samoylov, General Director of the Center for Prosthetics and Orthopedics.
