The FSB uncovered a scheme involving inspections and bribes in the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the National Guard.

      Criminal cases have been opened in the Nizhny Novgorod region against two high-ranking officers of the Department of Non-Departmental Security of the National Guard (Rosgvardiya), who are suspected of corruption offenses. This was reported by the regional Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee.

      According to the investigation, the head of the department and the head of one of its divisions from August 2024 to October 2025 received more than 2 million rubles from a representative of a commercial organization engaged in the production of security and fire alarm systems. The money, it has been established, was handed over in exchange for arranging unscheduled inspections of private security companies, recording violations and subsequently pressuring their management in order to secure contracts with entities affiliated with the bribe-giver.

      One of the defendants is accused of accepting a bribe (Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the other — of acting as an intermediary in bribery (Part 4 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

      The criminal cases were initiated based on materials from the FSB Directorate for the Nizhny Novgorod region. Officers of the agency are also providing operational support to the investigation.

      Both suspects are currently detained and have been charged. Investigators are deciding on the imposition of a preventive measure and continue to collect evidence.

      Earlier it was reported that a former employee of Nizhny Novgorod's Rostekhnadzor was sentenced to three years for corruption offenses.
