      Four employees of the municipal institution "Ritual" in Dzerzhinsk heard their sentences in the case of employing "dead souls." According to the Nizhny Novgorod prosecutor's office, for five years they placed their relatives and acquaintances on the payroll even though those people did not in fact report for duty and performed no responsibilities. Members of the organized criminal group were regularly paid salaries for the "dead souls." The money was cashed out and appropriated by participants in the fraudulent scheme. In total, more than two million rubles were stolen from the city budget. The court found that the crime was committed by an organized group and found all four guilty of fraud. They were given suspended sentences ranging from three to four years with a probation period of two and a half years. In addition, at the city prosecutor's request the court ordered the defendants to return all the damages caused. Earlier, the former head of "Ritual" and city Duma deputy Natalya Migunova was given a seven-year suspended sentence. She was found guilty of fraud, bribery and abuse of official powers.
