
Former journalist of "Nizhegorodskaya Pravda" received the title "Honored Veteran"

Former "Nizhegorodskaya Pravda" journalist Stanislav Smirnov was awarded the title "Honored Veteran of the Nizhny Novgorod Region." He was presented with a diploma and a badge for his active work after retiring.
Smirnov has long been interested in local historical studies. During that time he has written and compiled 15 books on the subject. His interest in the history of his native region arose back when he worked at the newspaper, where he was employed from 1995 to 2014.
"I began to take an interest in historical local studies a long time ago. It became one of the directions of my professional activity at 'Nizhegorodskaya Pravda,' where I worked from 1995 to 2014. For ten years my authorial page 'Otchina' was published," he told the pravda-nn.ru portal.
After retiring, Smirnov continued to conduct archival research and publish in various outlets. His articles are highly regarded by both professional historians and amateur local historians.
In addition, he took part in academic conferences and for ten years served as the press secretary of the regional branch of the Union of Writers of Russia.
His candidacy for the title was supported by the Union of Journalists, the Union of Writers and the State Public-Political Archive of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
It was previously reported that 28 residents of the region were awarded the honorary title "Honored Veteran of the Nizhny Novgorod Region."
