Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced plans to further increase the minimum wage (MROT). In 2026 it will exceed 27 thousand rubles. This statement was made at a government strategic session where key directions of the country's socio-economic policy were discussed, reports 360.ru.

Mishustin stressed that the increase in the minimum wage is occurring faster than inflation is rising. Since the beginning of 2025 the minimum wage has already risen by more than 16.5%, reaching a level of over 22.4 thousand rubles — which is 48% of the country's median wage.

The head of government noted that next year an even more significant increase is expected — the minimum wage will rise by 20.5% and will amount to 27,093 rubles.

The Prime Minister is confident that such an increase in the minimum wage will positively affect the well-being of about 4.5 million workers in Russia.

Recall that in May 2024 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree "On the national development goals of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030 and with a view to 2036." According to the decree, the authorities must ensure that by 2030 the minimum wage is doubled compared with 2023 figures, that is, to a level of at least 35 thousand rubles per month.

At the same time, according to surveys, residents of Nizhny Novgorod now dream of a minimum wage of 49,600 rubles.
