The Privolzhsky District of the Russian National Guard marked the 45th anniversary of its formation.

A ceremonial event was held in the Nizhny Novgorod Region timed to the 45th anniversary of the formation of the Privolzhsky Zhukov Order District of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation.
It was attended by the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov, the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and Secretary of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of United Russia Gleb Nikitin, the head of Nizhny Novgorod Yuri Shalabaev, Senator of the Russian Federation and First Deputy Secretary of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the United Russia party Alexander Vainberg, Deputy Chairman of the region’s Legislative Assembly Dmitry Krasnov, representatives of coordinating agencies, the district personnel and veterans of the service.
The celebratory program began with the laying of a foundation stone for a future chapel. A chapel in the name of Saint Vladimir the Equal-to-the-Apostles will be built in the square in front of the district headquarters building.
“I wholeheartedly congratulate the guardsmen of the Privolzhsky District on this wonderful anniversary. It is a symbol not only of military valor, but also of continuity between generations, of loyalty to duty and to the oath. On this solemn day we bow our heads with special gratitude and respect to the bright memory of the heroes who fell on the battlefields. It was they, sparing not their own lives, who defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our Fatherland. To those living and serving today for the benefit of our Motherland I wish happiness, health, good fortune and love and all the best!” Alexander Vainberg addressed the servicemen.
In accordance with a decree of the President of the Russian Federation, servicemen distinguished in maintaining law and order were awarded state decorations for high performance in operational and combat activities, professionalism and exemplary fulfillment of military duty.
“The Privolzhsky warriors have always successfully carried out all assigned tasks. I thank all personnel for their service and for their impeccable handling of difficult and responsible tasks. I am confident that now and in the future the servicemen and employees of the Privolzhsky Zhukov Order District of the National Guard will act firmly, coherently and reliably, raising the level of training, professional skill and personal mastery in the name of Russia’s prosperity and ensuring the safety of our citizens,” noted the district commander, Colonel-General Sergey Prosianik.
The event concluded with a ceremony laying a time capsule at the memorial complex “To Servicemen and Employees Who Died in the Line of Military and Official Duty.” The capsule with a message to descendants will be opened in 2045 on the 100th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
