      In 2024 the Dzerzhinsk Center for Social Services for the Elderly and Disabled became one of the winners of the PJSC "LUKOIL" Competition of Social and Cultural Projects in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. As part of the "Lessons of Mercy" project, a training site was created to teach the specifics of home care for people with various self-care deficits.

      The main direction of the Care School is training specialists, social workers, care assistants who provide social services, as well as relatives and close persons of elderly citizens and people with disabilities in practical caregiving skills for bedridden patients.

      With the support of LUKOIL, the facility was renovated and training equipment and educational materials were purchased. Under the guidance of an experienced specialist, the Center for Social Services uses these resources to study home rehabilitation methods and practice skills in personal hygiene, feeding, first aid, safe transfer and positioning of the patient, pressure ulcer prevention, and the use of technical rehabilitation aids.

      Particular attention is paid to psychological support for caregivers. Group sessions, individual consultations with a psychologist, and training in relaxation techniques and stress management are held.

      "We understand that family assistance and caring for sick people can be a difficult trial, so we strive to create a favorable environment and improve the psychological atmosphere in the families of our wards," said the project manager, head of the social and household services department Tatyana Mazurova.

      Project participants successfully cope with the tasks set, providing quality training and support to specialists and relatives caring for elderly citizens and people with disabilities. The results speak for themselves: during the period since January 2025, 8 theoretical and 8 practical sessions were held, and 61 people were trained, including social workers and care assistants. In addition, briefings on home care have been organized for relatives of people with disabilities.
