Carriers in Nizhny Novgorod, including private companies (LLC "Meshcheryakov and Company", LLC "Trans-NN" and LLC "Konka"), have sent an appeal to regional authorities proposing a revision of fares for urban public transport.
According to NIA "Nizhny Novgorod", the regional tariff service of the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported that the initiative is linked to a projected rise in inflation, as well as increased prices for fuel, consumables and drivers' wages.
The fare in Nizhny Novgorod was last changed more than a year ago — in July 2024. It currently remains one of the lowest among Russia's million-plus cities.
For comparison: in Moscow, as of 11 September, the cashless fare is 74 rubles; in Saint Petersburg — 80 rubles (data as of 6 August); in Krasnodar — 50 rubles (5 December 2024); in Krasnoyarsk — 48 rubles (29 August); in Omsk — 45 rubles (25 June); in Kazan — 43 rubles (31 December 2024); and in Perm — 40 rubles (27 November 2024).
From 1 November 2025 the fare in Nizhny Novgorod is planned to be raised to 40 rubles instead of 35.
