In Arzamas, officers of the State Traffic Inspectorate detained a 32-year-old man who, while driving under the influence of alcohol, attempted to flee from the police.

According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the incident occurred in October. A traffic patrol crew spotted a Mazda whose driver, upon seeing the patrol car, abruptly turned off course and ran a red light at an intersection. The police began a pursuit.

The chase ended in the courtyard of a residential building, where the offender stopped. He refused to comply with the lawful demand to present his driver's license. Officers also noted signs of alcohol intoxication.

The driver refused to undergo sobriety testing both on site and at a medical facility. During the check it was revealed that the man did not have a driver's license at all.

Administrative reports were drawn up against the offender. The court sentenced him to 13 days of administrative arrest and a fine of 1,500 rubles.

A similar incident occurred in Gorodets. During that chase, law enforcement officers were forced to use their service weapon to stop a car driven by a 15-year-old teenager.
