Nizhny Novgorod native Nikolai Voevodin left SKA-VMF after a poor start to the season.

Nizhny Novgorod specialist Nikolai Voevodin has left his post as head coach of the SKA-VMF hockey club of the VHL. The leadership of the St. Petersburg team decided to end cooperation with the coach and his staff amid poor results at the start of the current season.
As reported on the club’s official accounts, all assistants who were part of the coaching staff left the team together with Voevodin. The club thanked the specialists for their work and wished them success in the future.
Evgeny Ketov has been appointed head coach; he previously served on the coaching staff of SKA’s main team.
Nikolai Voevodin took charge of SKA-VMF in 2023, immediately after leading Nizhny Novgorod’s Chaika to the championship in the Junior Hockey League.
Voevodin is a native of Nizhny Novgorod. He is a product of the SDYuShOR “Torpedo” youth sports school and began his playing career with Borsky “Kvarc.” He later played for Torpedo-2 and Torpedo, and also spent three seasons with Nizhnekamsk’s Neftekhimik, after which he returned to his native region.
Voevodin began his coaching career in 2009, taking charge of Torpedo’s junior team. He later worked at various clubs in the Nizhny Novgorod region before taking over SKA-VMF.
It was previously reported that Chaika defeated Molot 4–3, completing an impressive comeback.
