
Homeless man with a pistol robbed a supermarket in Nizhny Novgorod — video

In Nizhny Novgorod, criminal investigators detained a man shortly after he caused a disturbance in one of the supermarkets in the Sovetsky District, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported.
A 41-year-old employee of the store contacted Police Station No. 7. The woman said that at around six o’clock in the evening in the store on Timiryazeva Street she noticed a noisy group, and one of the men was behaving particularly aggressively.
The visitor, threatening with an object resembling a pistol, stole two bottles of vodka worth a total of 936 rubles and attempted to flee.
Criminal investigators quickly identified and detained the suspect near the scene. He turned out to be a 52-year-old man with no fixed abode, previously repeatedly convicted and without a steady source of income.
The offender was detained under administrative procedure under Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, “Petty hooliganism.” He was later charged under Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, “Hooliganism.”
The court ordered that the suspect be held in custody. The investigation continues.
Under Russian law, committing such an offense is punishable by imprisonment for up to seven years.

Earlier it was reported that homeless people are terrorizing supermarket employees at 5 Gagarin Avenue. They steal alcohol, react aggressively to requests by shop staff to leave the store, and pester customers, asking for money for alcohol. This group also drinks on the children’s playground and makes life difficult for local residents. The editorial office of NIA “Nizhny Novgorod” sent a request to the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs asking for comment on the situation with aggressive homeless people in the city center, who do as they please, but received no response.
