Nizhny Novgorod ranked 26th in the country in terms of wage levels.

      Nizhny Novgorod took 26th place in the annual ranking of Russian cities by wage levels compiled by the RIA Novosti agency. The study included the 100 largest cities in the country.

      The average net salary in Nizhny Novgorod for the first half of 2025 amounted to 86,500 rubles. Compared with the same period in 2024, the indicator grew by 14.3%.

      Experts assessed not only the size of incomes but also their purchasing power. For this, the ratio of the average net salary to the cost of a fixed consumer basket of goods and services was calculated. In Nizhny Novgorod that ratio was 3.69.

      The ranking is based on official statistics on wages at large and medium-sized enterprises for January–June 2025. The cost of the consumer basket was determined from regional Rosstat statistics.

      The ranking included administrative centers of the Russian Federation’s federal subjects as well as other major cities of the country. This is the seventh time the study has been conducted.

      Earlier, agency experts reported that Nizhny Novgorod Oblast took 28th place out of 85 in the ranking of Russian regions with the highest wage levels. It was also reported that workers’ wages in the region rose by 15% over the year.
