      The elimination of an unauthorized dump has begun in the Lyskovo district. This is a joint action by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Volunteers of Victory, forest protection officers of the Ministry of Forestry and Protection of Wildlife Objects, representatives of VOOP and the administration of the Lyskovsky municipal district. Participants in the "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" program also joined the action. The event is being held as part of the implementation of the national project "Ecological Well‑being," one of whose tasks is to improve the quality of the environment. The illegal dump near Lyskovo, in a ravine near the village of Yegoryevskoye, had been accumulating and worrying residents for a long time. The volume of waste to be removed currently amounts to about 500 cubic meters. The site cleanup will be carried out in several stages.

      "Such initiatives show that ecology is not only about nature, but also about people, their concern and readiness to act. The joint work of the ministry, the municipality and volunteers helps not only to remove garbage, but also to change the attitude toward the environment. We set the task of completely eliminating the dump and carrying out reclamation of the site by the end of the year. This will become an example of a systematic approach to solving similar problems in the region," said Vladimir Tuzhilin, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      At the first stage, the forces of state institutions and volunteer organizations focused on manual collection and sorting of the waste. Then machinery will join the work to help clean the deep ravine and adjacent areas. The issue of involving specialized equipment and determining the most effective cleaning methodology is currently being resolved. The head of the Lyskovsky municipal district has been tasked with completely eliminating the dump this year to prevent re‑pollution and restore the natural balance of the area.

      "Our Volunteers of Victory are always ready to join environmental campaigns. By taking part in a volunteer cleanup, we do much more than just remove garbage. We return our land to its original appearance and show respect for it. It is very symbolic that the Volunteers of Victory together with the Ministry of Ecology are putting the Lyskovo land in order — a land with a rich history. We plan that soon volunteers together with residents will go out for a cleanup in another district — Balakhna. Seeing how the territory is transformed thanks to our joint efforts is the best motivation for further work," emphasized Maria Samodelkina, head of the NRO VOD "Volunteers of Victory."

      Recall that from 2025, by order of President Vladimir Putin, the national project "Ecological Well‑being" began to operate in Russia, carrying out tasks previously envisaged in the national project "Ecology." The new national project implies care for the environment and improving its comfort for people's lives. The national project includes six federal projects: "General Cleanup," "Water of Russia," "Preservation of Biological Diversity and Development of Ecological Tourism," "Forest Conservation," "Circular Economy," "Clean Air."
