Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region can take part in the all-Russian online financial literacy assessment. Its tasks are based on real-life situations and will help participants assess their level of knowledge in this area.

The format of the assessment is suitable for both adults and children. Younger schoolchildren will be introduced to the basics of handling money in a playful way, while adults will learn how to manage a personal budget sensibly, avoid fraudsters, choose financial products, and build savings for the future.

A feature of this year will be the participation of the project’s mascot — a raccoon named Yefim Lapkin, who will accompany participants throughout the challenge.

For middle and high school students there is a separate olympiad assessment, which will take place from October 14 to 16. The tasks for it were prepared by teachers from the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE). Successful completion of this stage will allow students to advance directly to the final of the All-Russian Olympiad "Vysshaya Proba" in the "Financial Literacy" category. Victory in the olympiad gives applicants additional advantages when applying to universities.

The assessment can be taken individually or as part of a family team. After completion, participants will receive personal recommendations to improve their knowledge, and upon successful completion — a personalized certificate.

The online assessment includes two levels of difficulty: basic and advanced. To begin, you can choose a short version without registration to gauge your abilities.

"Participants will be able to test their knowledge on examples from everyday life — whether it’s buying a home, saving for a major goal, applying for a loan, starting a business, or taking the first steps in investing," said Larisa Pavlova, head of the Volga-Vyatka Main Directorate of the Bank of Russia. According to her, last year more than 51,400 Nizhny Novgorod residents took part in the assessment.

Recall that the Nizhny Novgorod region received the status "Capital of Financial Culture–2025" following a competition organized by the Bank of Russia and the Ministry of Finance. As part of this status, the "Resident of the Capital of Financial Culture" project is being implemented, whose participants earn points for taking part in financial literacy events. These points can be exchanged for souvenirs, excursions, educational lectures, as well as discounts on attending cultural and sporting events. Points are also awarded for participation in the online assessment.
