Nizhny Novgorod Oblast will allocate nearly 13 billion rubles in 2025 for the implementation of the national project "Youth and Children." This was reported by Governor Gleb Nikitin at a meeting with Russian Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov, held in Nizhny Novgorod on October 7.

Sergey Kravtsov noted that the region is steadily strengthening its education system and showing high results under the national project. According to him, the construction of modern facilities, large-scale overhauls and the equipping of colleges are being combined into a single ecosystem for workforce training, and the development of career guidance helps young people receive a quality education and remain in the region, supporting the country’s economy.

Gleb Nikitin reported that the construction of the first facility of the IT campus in the regional center has been completed — 18 hotel buildings have been erected. Construction continues on four more campus facilities and five kindergartens. Under a "single-cycle" contract, design and cost-estimate documentation is being developed for a school for gifted children in the town of Bor. The governor emphasized that these projects are being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education and with the personal assistance of the minister.

Under the national project, major renovations have been completed in 11 schools. Work continues in 15 more institutions: nine schools, three colleges, two kindergartens and one youth center. More than 3,000 units of equipment have been purchased for general education organizations under the federal project "All the Best for Children" for teaching the subjects "Labor (Technology)" and "Fundamentals of Safety and Protection of the Motherland."

The minister and the governor visited the site of the future federal technopark for vocational education based at Nizhpoligraf. The project envisages the creation of more than 40 laboratories in priority sectors of the economy and training in 50 fields. The technopark will become a center for upskilling teachers of secondary vocational education (SVE) and instructors of general education and specialized disciplines in colleges, a venue for accelerated training without loss of quality and for testing new teaching technologies in cooperation with enterprises of the real sector. It will also serve as a hub for collecting, consolidating and scaling up successful practices of the SVE system.

Gleb Nikitin thanked the Ministry of Education for the "Professionalitet" program, which enables the modernization of the secondary vocational education system. The region has 16 clusters ranging from mechanical engineering to pedagogy, with six educational-production centers opened in 2025.

According to the governor, 60% of 9th-grade graduates continue their studies at colleges and technical schools in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. This choice is explained by the opportunity to obtain an in-demand specialty in three years and begin an independent career. In 73 vocational education institutions, 234 secondary vocational education programs are being implemented across 170 specialties and 64 trades.

Nikitin emphasized that a "SVE–employer" linkage has been established in the region. This is facilitated by target agreements and the "Professionalitet" program: students enroll in in-demand specialties, train in renovated workshops, and undertake internships with future employers on their equipment. According to the governor, this allows the preparation of personnel needed by the region’s anchor enterprises.

Additionally, the development of SVE is supported by specialized classes in regional schools that orient students toward learning professions. Educational institutions have engineering, agricultural, medical and psychological-pedagogical classes.

It should be recalled that the national project "Youth and Children" has been implemented since 2025 at the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. It comprises nine federal projects and programs: "Russia — Land of Opportunity," "We Are Together," "Russia in the World," "All the Best for Children," "Leading Schools," "Teachers and Mentors," "Creation of a Network of Modern Campuses," "Universities for a Generation of Leaders," and "Professionalitet."

It should also be recalled that the head of the Russian Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, inspected the progress of the "Health Quarter" project in Nizhny Novgorod.
