A resident of Nizhny Novgorod was sentenced to two years in a penal colony for justifying terrorism.

      A resident of the Nizhny Novgorod Region has been found guilty of publicly justifying terrorism. The decision was handed down by the 2nd Western District Military Court.

      According to the FSB Directorate for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, service officers established that the man had posted materials online in which he justified a terrorist attack that occurred at one of the region’s industrial enterprises.

      Investigators opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — “Public justification of terrorism.” After the investigation, the materials were sent to court.

      By court decision, the defendant was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment in a general regime penal colony. The verdict has not yet come into legal force.

      It was reported that a foreign national who financed terrorists was detained in the Volga capital.
