Information about an increase in the number of people infected with the Coxsackie virus in the Nizhny Novgorod region has not been confirmed. This was reported by a representative of the regional medical community, Alexey Nikonov, on his Telegram channel.
According to specialists at Rospotrebnadzor, the incidence of enteroviral infections in the region remains within the long-term norm. There is currently no threat of the spread of the Coxsackie virus across Russia.
The agency emphasized that reports in the media and on social networks about alleged outbreaks are not true.
Rospotrebnadzor reminded the public of preventive measures. It is recommended to wash hands regularly and thoroughly, especially after visiting public places, before eating and after using the toilet. For drinking and for washing fruits and vegetables, it is better to use boiled or bottled water. Close contact with people showing signs of intestinal or respiratory illness should be avoided.
If symptoms appear — high temperature, runny nose, cough, sore throat, rash, headache or stomach upset, especially after returning from trips — you should seek medical attention immediately.
Earlier it was reported that five schools in the Nizhny Novgorod region were closed due to an outbreak of acute respiratory viral infection (ARVI).
