Nizhny Novgorod traffic police were forced to use their service firearm to stop a car whose driver ignored lawful police orders. A 15-year-old teenager was behind the wheel of the domestically produced sedan, and his 14-year-old acquaintance was in the passenger seat. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

The incident occurred on October 4 at about 02:10 near building No. 30 on Proletarskaya Square in Gorodets. A traffic patrol unit signaled for the domestically produced car to stop, but the driver did not comply and attempted to flee.

Despite repeated warnings over a loudspeaker about the possible use of weapons, the driver of the VAZ-21150 continued driving, increasing speed and creating a threat to road safety.

To stop the dangerous driving, police officers used their service firearm. As a result of one of the shots, the car's rear left wheel was damaged. The vehicle went off the road into a ditch, where the police detained the driver and his passenger. As emphasized by the department, the weapon was used outside the populated area and outside a residential zone.

It turned out that the driver was a 15-year-old teenager who had taken the car keys without his parents' permission to go for a ride with a friend.

An administrative report has been drawn up against the minor's legal guardian under Article 5.35 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation — "Failure by parents or other legal guardians to fulfill duties for the maintenance and upbringing of minors" — and under Part 3 of Article 12.7 of the Code — "Operating a vehicle by a person not entitled to do so."

The car was taken to a specialized impound lot. An investigation into the incident is underway.
